Strategy | Objective | Role
Over the next two decades (hence our name: 2020) the healthcare industry will continue to undergo a transformation catalyzed by developments in 'Personalized Medicine'.
At 20/20, we have assembled a group of experts with a diverse range of backgrounds who have developed a vision for healthcare in the year 2020. This vision guides our strategy for developing and commercializing technologies that we feel will accelerate the implementation of successful 'Personalized Medicine' approaches.
Our team approach relies on an efficient and strategic use of time and resources, to bring our portfolio companies' products to market. We continually assess both technologies and the health care market to determine which of the innovations that we evaluate fit with the 2020 vision.
Once a 'good fit' is determined, we allocate resources to the project. These resources include capital, management and technical expertise in addition to investing significant funds in each project.

Industry info:
In recent years the approval process for venture capital equity investment has become longer and tougher stranding many early stage companies out of the investment cycle. Moreover, as venture capital funds have grown, their minimum investment requirements often dictate an inappropriate business plan in order to justify the minimum investment amount. Accordingly, the average 'time to liquidity' for an acquired start-up company in 2005 was 5.4 years. That compares with 2.4 years in 2004.
Role
Establish a structure and strategic partnerships for the early Identification of opportunities
Accelerate the convergence of medical device technologies in the Diagnostic (Dx), Therapeutic (Tx), and Prediction (Px) applications with a focus on a range of projects that are driven by a few simple assumptions:
- The need for better imaging resolution while reducing exposure to radiation and other hazards will require improved contrast media and improved imaging software.
- Medical Device manufacturers can no longer focus only on mechanical/electronic solutions.
- Proprietary biomathematics technologies will become one of the principal competitive drivers for the drug development industry.
- Expedite development through nimble management and short product development cycle
